The main objective is to achieve balance between economics, care for the environment and social welfare, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the present without compromising the needs of future generations of the inhabitants of our island.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDG)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) have become fundamental goals for our establishment, in order to support the eradication of poverty, protection of the planet and ensure the prosperity of all.

The main SDGs for Cabañas Tokerau are:

SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation

1) Improved water quality, reducing pollution by separating gray water from the system.
2) Collection of rainwater, supplying the need for cleaning, irrigation and others.
3) Concern about the use of chemical cleaners and products without contaminants.

SDG 7: Accessible and clean energy

1) Energy efficiency, using LED bulbs and low energy consumption appliances.
2) Incorporation of renewable energy through lighting solutions with solar energy.

SDG 12: Responsible production and consumption

1) Management of organic waste throughout its life cycle.

2) Reduce the generation of waste through actions for its reduction, recycling and reuse.

3) Education for a sustainable use of the facilities in the establishment. 4) Use of chemically friendly products with the environment

SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities

1) Promotion of the care and protection of the cultural and natural heritage of Rapa Nui.

2) Support economic, social and environmental links between the establishment and the Rapanui community

3) Support for activities that promote the conservation of the Rapanui culture, such as the use of the language, ancestral medicine, promotion of customs as part of the worldview of the Rapanui people.

SDG 13: Climate Action

1) Contribute to reducing the carbon and water footprint at all stages of production. 2) Raise awareness and train the community on climate change mitigation, adaptation to it, reduction of its effects and early warning.

SDG 14: Life below water

1) Prevent and reduce marine pollution by managing waste and reducing CO2.     

2) Support cleaning and waste collection actions on the beaches, promoting the reuse of microplastics

SDG 15: Life on land ecosystem

1) Preserve and improve the ecosystem of the island through the generation of reforestation programs, avoiding desertification and rehabilitating degraded lands and soils.

2) Composting of residues for the generation of organic nutrients.

3) Educate visitors and the community on the importance of the island’s native and endemic flora.

SDG 17: Partnerships to achieve the goals

1) Promote the development of partnerships with the public and private spheres for the management of resources that promote sustainable programs for the island.

2) Alliances with clients to mobilize financial resources, in order to support the achievement of the SDGs.
